Sir Gawain Not A Ruin Knight

Monica
Sir Gawain Not A Ruin Knight
11/22/10

Gawain is a very loyal and peaceful knight in many ways. He starts off looking for the green knight to pay him back, but he ends finding a castle. The Lord offered Gawain to be a guest in his castle, and he could have whatever his heart desired. Well the Lord had gone hunting to prove he could be brave and strong, and in the meanwhile he had told the Lady of the castle to keep Gawain occupied. She did indeed keep him extremely occupied, by offering him a kiss each day, so by the third he had gotten three kisses, then the Lady gave Gawain a girdle. It is showing that the Lady was truly in love with Gawain, but she still did care for her husband. Then after Gawain refused to take the Ladies ring, that’s when she offered him her girdle.

Gawain is a good knight because he was always nice to people, whenever he was offered a gift he would kindly say, “No.”, and whenever the king was gone he would try to keep things as regular as possible. This states that he is a good knight, and will be willing to help anyone.

Hjalti the Magnanimous!

My favorite character in the book Hrolf Kraki is Hott. Hott was buried in a pile of bones, where the king's knights kept throwing their scraps. When Bodvar went to join the king's kingdom, that's when he saw that the knights were being down right cruel to Hott. Bodvar was able to get Hott out of the bone pile and saw the skinniest person he had ever seen in his life. Well Bodvar wasn't going to take that anymore, so he grabbed Hott and told him that he needed to go see the king. After their visit with the king, both men were accepted to be knights at the kingdom. They both faught very well together while in battle. You would think since Hott is Bodvar's sidekick that he would be the one to get scared every once in a while, but most of the time he would be fighting better than Bodvar. The reason for that is because after Bodvar killed the dragon, he made the king still think it was alive, so to show the king that he was brave, Hott set off to the forest and drank the dragon's blood. That's really what showed the king how brave a knight Hott really was. Then that night during dinner, Hott was honored with the name Hjalti the Magnanimous.
